Mucormycosis in COVID-19 patients of severe type has been reported. This study was intended to evaluate ESR, CRP, LDH, CPK, D-Dimer, BS and FBS levels in COVID-19 patients with mucormycosis. Information was recorded including gender, age, hospitalization and recovery. The laboratory parameters contained ESR, CRP, LDH, CPK, D-Dimer, BS and FBS levels. There was a significant relationship between LDH and CPK level with hospitalization, and also, between CRP and gender. Finally, there was a significant difference between the age groups in terms of ESR. Our study showed that LDH and CPK, CRP and ESR should be considered as laboratory tests in the hospitalized COVID-19 patients with mucormycosis.

COVID-19 infection is still widespread around the world. It has been demonstrated that albumin is a biomarker in COVID-19 diagnosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between blood albumin and clinical status of COVID-19 patients. In our study, patients older than 18 years admitted to a hospital in Yazd with a positive PCR test participated. Related data was analyzed by SPSS software. 34.2 % of the men with lower than normal albumin levels needed to be admitted to the ICU. Also, 32.8 % of the women with lower than normal albumin levels needed to be admitted to the ICU. The results of the present study showed that the patients with lower serum albumin needed to be admitted to the ICU more than other patients.

Covid-19 patients have coagulation complications resulting in poor prognosis. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the prevalence of coagulation disorders in patients with Covid-19 admitted to Shahid Sadoughi Hospital in Yazd. This study was a cross-sectional study that all patients admitted with a diagnosis of Covid-19 from the beginning of February 2020 to the end of April 2020 were examined for the frequency of coagulation dysfunctions. A total of 441 patients with Covid-19 were included in the study with a mean age of 55.4 years that 47.8 %, 25.6 % and 6.8 % had impaired Prothrombin Time (PT), Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT) and International Normalized Ratio (INR), respectively.

Coronavirus is a non-segmented virus related to Coronaviridae family with an envelope and RNA that has a huge positive-sense single-stranded genome. The causative agent of COVID-19, severe acute respiratory coronavirus syndrome-2 (SARS-CoV-2) first appeared in China in 2019. The role of these viruses in pneumonia has greatly improved through molecular techniques. The virus structural proteins, viral replication factors, viral endocytosis process and enzymes are the key targets for designing drugs against COVID-19. This review considered the main molecular and cellular targets as well as peptide-based and pharmaceutical treatments for COVID-19 aiming for a better design of drugs against viruses with the best insights on key factors in this infection.

Various factors are effective in reduction or increase of Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR). This study was designed to investigate the effective factors on ESR in adults participating study in Yazd in Iran. In this study, the data in cohort study was used. The variables of age, sex, Body Mass Index (BMI), alcohol consumption, smoking, infection, inflammation, cancer, and blood pressure were collected. There is a significant relationship between age, sex, systolic blood pressure, BMI, physical activity, joint and heart pain, osteoporosis and smoking history with ESR. Cancer history and diastolic blood pressure variables have no significant effect on ESR values. Results showed that ESR levels in an adult population are generally affected by age and sex.
