Today allergens are known as molecules that induce an IgE-mediated reaction (allergy) in human beings. Protein is one of the most important molecules that could be the allergen. Allergens sources are varied from plants, animals, and fungi to microbial and even viral sources. Melittin, phospholipase A2, hyaluronidase and venom allergen-5 are most important venom allergens in hymenoptera family. The various components are identified as the venom allergens in scorpions and snakes venoms. VAH (Vespid allergen antigen homolog) and ASP (Aspergillus allergen) are two venom allergens group detected in nematode parasites. Recognition of venom allergens and their immune responses is the first step to avoid the animal-related allergic diseases and prevent anaphylactic shock.

Vibrio fischeri is a bacterium that produces light, mainly in sea water. The glowing light from luminous bacteria is a specific function consisting of luciferase and luciferin. This ability of V. fischeri is a valuable application for researchers. In this study, the growth conditions were optimized for emitting light. We selected some factors can affect on bacterial growth such as temperature, pH and culture medium. 5 ml of sea water broth and 5 μl of V. fischeri were incubated in 15, 18, 21, 24 °C. Following that three concentrations of NaCl (1 %, 2 %, 3 %), Asp and Cys (0.005, 0.004 g) were used. The result showed that the best light emitting of marine bacteria was at 24 °C. Top relative light unit (RLU) for this optimization was 22 million. The result showed that we could use these optimized V. fischeri for checkup of water and food toxicity.

Nowadays the dual binary vector system pGreen/pSoup is used for Agrobacterium transformation. The pGreen vector uses the pSa replication locus composed of the pSa ori and the pSa replicase gene (repA). The repA gene is resident on a pSoup and provides replication functions in Trans for pGreen. Therefore, the present study was a preliminary attempt to investigate how pgR107 binary vector replicates without subsidiary plasmid pSoup, in disarmed Agrobacterium LBA4404. So, human Nerve Growth Factor gene was cloned in a binary pgR107 vector based on pGreen. Recombinant pgR107-hNGF plasmid was introduced in competent A. tumefaciens strain LBA4404 using a freeze-thaw technique. Transformed colonies containing pgR107-hNGF grown on selective medium was approved by colony PCR using hNGF specific primers. Examination of A. tumefaciens LBA4404 genome for presence of pSa Rep (RepA) gene was done via basic local alignment search tool (BLAST). There was no homology observed between RepA sequence and A. tumefaciens strain LBA4404 genome. Our findings show although A. tumefaciens LBA4404 does not contain pSoup plasmid, binary vector could interestingly replicate in such strain. But, the mechanism of replication is unknown and being to be investigated.

Increasing antibiotic resistance in strains of bacterial pathogens increase the attitude of people to find new compounds as an appropriate alternative to antibiotics. In this study, the antimicrobial effects of methanolic extract of Mentha pulegium against S. aureus and E. coli strains were investigated. After collecting the plants, essential oil of aerial parts of the plant was done by distillation with water through the clevenger apparatus. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC / MS) was used to identify the chemical composition of the essential oil. M. pulegium extract was prepared by soxhlet extractor method and their antimicrobial effects were investigated using agar well diffusion and dilution methods. The results of GC / MS analysis showed 22 compounds in M. pulegium plant. The results showed that M. pulegium methanolic extract prevents the growth of S. aureus and E. coli bacteria. Also, S. aureus showed a higher sensitivity to different concentrations of M. pulegium extract. Therefore, after supplementary studies, it could be used as a substitute the treatment of infections.

The aim of this study was investigation of blaCTX-M, blaSHV and blaTEM ESBLs among Escherichia coli (E. coli) isolates from meat products. Fifty sheep meat samples were prepared from some slaughter houses in Tehran, Iran. The isolates were also confirmed by conventional biochemical tests. The antibiotic susceptibility of isolates was performed by disc diffusion method according to the clinical and laboratory standards institute (CLSI) 2016 guidelines. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed for detection of blaCTXM, blaSHV and blaTEM genes. Among 50 meat samples, 30 E. coli isolates were identified. The resistance rate to co-amoxiclav (86 %), doxycycline (10 %), tetracycline (6.7 %), cephamandole (10 %), cefazolin (6.7 %) and ceftazidime (6.7 %) were determined. The PCR screening clarified that all isolates were positive for blaCTXM (100 %) and 23.3 % were positive for blaTEM, but none of them amplified the blaSHV gene. Among E. coli isolates from meat, the antibiotic resistance rate was low, except for co-amoxiclav. High rate of blaCTX-M production among E. coli from meat is concerning owing to encoding resistance to B-lactam antibiotics and spread to human population.

Male infertility related to diabetes is under investigation to find a proper therapeutic strategy with minimal side effects. Using Nigella sativa as a supplementary agent could be helpful. This study was designed to know Nigella sativa effect on hormone profiles and histology of diabetes type II model. 40 male rats (250-300 g) were divided into four groups which diabetic rats received 200 and 400 mg/kg extract of Nigella sativa for 90 days. The male hormones profiles, weight and the histopathological configuration were analyzed at end of study. Nigella sativa improved the hormones profile in experimental groups. Also, the number of germinal epithelium increased in experimental groups following Nigella sativa administration. Although, therapeutic effects of Nigella sativa are promising; several preclinical and clinical trials are necessary to optimize its proper dose and time in remedy of male infertility.

Drug discovery from the venom of venomous animals is one of the marvelous and cost effective ways.Snake venom is one of the important sources of drug discovery. There are various active biomolecules in the snake venom. N.oxiana venom fractionated and cytotoxic effect of each fraction was examined by MTT assay. Antitumor activity of N. oxiana venom fractions were evaluated using TC-1 tumor bearing mouse. Results indicate for anti-tumor activity of some fractions of N. oxiana venom on TC-1 tumor proliferation and growth. Taken together, observed results indicate for potential of N. oxiana as drug discovery source for cancer therapy.
